Welcome to this week’s My Drive’s top picks from me [Emily] - one of JW Media Music’s music consultants. It’s a very exciting time for all of us media boffins at the moment with the Rio Olympics allowing our creative juices to flourish in new and exciting directions. Some of my picks are heavily based on the current togetherness that has stemmed from this wonderful world event! Link to the playlist here 

Never Gonna Give You Up [JW2243] - JW Media Music

I recommend everyone to pay attention to the Pop Drum & Bass album as a whole! It’s perfect for the season, for sporting events and overall brings so much energy to the table. I love this song specifically because whenever I’m doing music searches and I come across it, the song sticks in my head for the rest of the day. It’s so catchy!

Backstreet Man [HR2332] - Happy Records

Again, this track is awesome for the summery season and it’s very funky. I love this song because I’m a huge fan of the cool and relaxed vibes. It also has a 70s edge that I am loving in music at the moment!

Shake My Love [FG055] - Figure and Groove

This Bluesy Americana sound is what I want to listen to every single day at the moment! It reminds me of TV shows like ‘Sons of Anarchy’ or ‘Vinyl’ (which I love). In fact, the entire Devil’s Cut album must be experienced as an entire package as it’s a real foot-stomper of an album.

Soundshifter [JW2239] - JW Media Music

Firstly, this is an odd choice from me as I’m known very much for favouring guitar music. However, I really like this track because the 90s House sound is very current at the moment and is now a go-to genre that I listen to before going out to party!

Raise Your Hands [COM063] - Clockwork Orange Music

I really like the progression of this track. This is the only song I’ve heard at the moment that I can put the word ‘sparkly’ to – which I like very much! It’s very subtle yet uplifting which I think works with a lot of advertisers at the moment.

Embers [NT015] - Ninja Tracks

The entire album builds so much suspense! It’s great how dramatic yet mournful this particular track can be – a very clever piece!

Just The Kind Of Man [SIS045A] - Source In Sync

The combination of the big band and the awesomely smooth vocals of James Martin Edwards is a match made in heaven! It’s a very feel-good 1950s sound that would put a smile on anybody’s face.

 Zen Forest [BM067] - Brilliant Music

I’ve chosen this track because it is one of the most peaceful things I have ever heard! I could honestly fall asleep to this every single night. I also like it because it’s very mysterious and creates a nice escapism feel like you’re in a rain forest that’s a part of a fantasy based video game.

Meeting The Spirit [SFT174] - Strange Fruit

When I first listened to this I felt shivers down my spine. It is so chilling yet gentle - that’s what I like about this track the most! It’s very powerful.

Blind Justice [BBX224] - Beat Box

I really like the combination of strings and electronic elements. Alongside that, there’s a strong story of triumph within this piece. It’s very much it’s own genre and I love how uplifting the plucked strings are.
